HANDICAP POLICY
Player Responsibility
In order to compete in any FRGC/MGA handicap event, a member must establish and maintain a valid handicap with FRGC. The minimum requirement for doing so is to post the 5 most recent scores at the pro shop. Until a handicap is established, the player must play as a zero handicap.
If a new member has an established handicap at some other golf club, he will be expected to transfer the applicable scores to FRGC as soon as possible. For new members, the committee, at its discretion, may use a verifiable handicap from another golf club as the handicap allowance for the first event entered, thereby giving the new member a reasonable amount of time to transfer his scores.
Once a handicap is properly established with FRGC, the member is required to maintain his handicap properly according to the following requirements:
Post all scores with the FRGC pro shop. A valid handicap is based on the best 10 of the last 20 most recent scores regardless of whether the rounds were played at FRGC or at another location. Even if you maintain a handicap at another course, you are expected to post those scores at FRGC as well.
Apply proper equitable stroke control to all away scores as documented in the USGA Handicap System handbook. If you are unsure how to apply the adjustments properly, contact a committee member or ask someone in the pro shop for assistance. Note that equitable stroke control is applied automatically for all rounds played at FRGC.
